Before taking a photograph of your question, take some time to ensure the question is legible. This will be more pleasing for our tutors, and help your question to be answered quickly.

Here are some tips for taking high-quality photos:

1. Crop your question

Take some time to make the question the center stage. It’ll be less distracting to the viewer and generally make your question more pleasing to the eye.

  • Answer field and question number can be omitted to form a tighter crop. If there is important information, simply include it in the comments.
  • Avoid including your background — stationary, books, papers in the question
  • Instead of doodling over your older worked solutions — why not just leave it in? Our tutors would be able to point out where you went wrong!

2. Orientation matters

Save your question-answering friends from getting a neck strain and eye strain by orientating photos properly. Always remember to rotate and avoid skewing photos! Our app also provides a rotate tool in case your photos are upside down.

3. Use flash

Light is a photographer’s best friend. Flash helps to prevent shadows of your phone and hands cast onto your question (which may make it difficult to read). Overall, great lighting makes your photo look clearer and sharper, which is definitely easier on the eyes.

We prefer brightly lit photos (and shadows) to these terrible skews. Skews are much harder to read!

4. Flat surfaces

Lay your question on a flat surface. Let the words be seen on straight lines. Curled and curved pages are a big no-no.

5. Ensure your question is legible

Readability is very important! Do ensure your question can be read and has good contrast otherwise our tutors would get more eye strain. Or worse.. your question may not get answered.

Happy asking! Don’t forget to thank the tutors that helped you~ :)
